FAQs

What is a chiropractor?

A chiropractor is a licensed doctor who specializes in caring for the nervous system by addressing the spine. This means finding and correcting subluxations, which are small areas of misalignment and decreased motion. By doing so, a chiropractor helps restore proper neurological function.

is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Research supports chiropractic as a safe and gentle option during pregnancy. Dr Melanie uses techniques specifically designed for this season, focusing on comfort, pelvic balance, and the nervous system.

When should I start chiropractic care during pregnancy?

Ideally, you will have received chiropractic care during preconception, but starting chiropractic care is welcome at any stage and helpful no matter where you are in your pregnancy.

What is your pricing policy?

New patient visits are slightly more than a regular visit due to the thorough exam that Dr Melanie will perform, in addition to the adjustment. At subsequent visits, your only cost will be the adjustment. Payments are due at the time of service.

For a limited time, the cost of your first adjustment will be waived as a welcome to the office and a thank you for supporting Dawn Chiropractic!

Does chiropractic help with feeding/latch issues?

It can. If there is tension in the neck, jaw, or cranial bones, this can affect your baby’s ability to latch or feed comfortably. Adjustments can help release tension of various soft tissues and restore balanced motion and ease, leading to better feeding.

Why does the nervous system matter?

The nervous system is the communication system of the body. It helps coordinate everything from movement and sensation to growth, digestion, immune function, and the body’s ability to adapt to stress. At Dawn Chiropractic, we intentionally care for the nervous system because it is the foundation that allows the body to function, regulate, and heal.

Is chiropractic care safe for infants?

Yes, chiropractic care is very safe for infants. At Dawn Chiropractic, Dr Melanie has specialized training from the ICPA that has prepared her to care for your little one. Infant care differs significantly from adult chiropractic. Infant adjustments use light pressure comparable to checking the ripeness of a tomato or the weight of a coin.

What does the first appointment look like?

We will discuss your health history, concerns you have, and goals for care before I perform a physical exam. We will determine if chiropractic is the right step for you, and if so, I will adjust you according to your preferences and needs.

Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

At Dawn Chiropractic, we desire to make care accessible and affordable without compromising quality. We do not currently accept insurance, however if requested, we can provide a superbill that you could then submit to your insurance to potentially receive coverage.

Do you adjust dads and older kiddos?

Yes! Here at Dawn Chiropractic, we love caring for the entire family, no matter their stage of life!
