From its very beginning, chiropractic has recognized the importance of the nervous system. In 1895, D.D. Palmer founded the chiropractic profession on the principle that the nervous system is the body's master control system—a concept that is extremely evident through anatomy and physiology. The brain, spinal cord, and nerves coordinate every organ, tissue, and function in the body, making a healthy nervous system essential for the body's ability to adapt, regulate, and heal.
At Dawn Chiropractic, our techniques are intentionally chosen to support nervous system function through precise, gentle chiropractic adjustments. Because when the nervous system functions well, the rest of the body is better equipped to do what it was designed to do.
Our Technique
Torque Release Technique
Dr. Melanie is trained in multiple chiropractic techniques to meet the needs of each individual patient. The primary technique she utilizes is Torque Release Technique (TRT).
Torque Release Technique is a gentle, neurologically focused chiropractic technique developed through decades of research in spinal biomechanics and nervous system function. This technique emphasizes precise, reproducible adjustments designed to reduce neurological stress and support healthy communication throughout the nervous system.
Adjustments may be delivered manually or with the Integrator™, a specialized chiropractic instrument developed specifically for Torque Release Technique. The Integrator delivers a highly specific, low-force impulse that allows for exceptionally consistent adjustments while minimizing the amount of force applied to the body. This level of precision makes Torque Release an excellent choice for patients of all ages.
Webster technique
Dr. Melanie is also certified in the Webster Technique, a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment developed by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). The Webster Technique is designed to assess and improve the function of the pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding muscles and ligaments during pregnancy.
As a mother's body changes throughout pregnancy, increased ligament laxity, postural adaptations, and the growing uterus place additional stress on the pelvis and supporting structures. The Webster Technique uses gentle, specific adjustments to help restore balanced movement and reduce tension within the pelvis. By supporting optimal pelvic function and nervous system communication, this technique may help create an environment that allows both mother and baby to move and adapt more comfortably throughout pregnancy.
Although the Webster Technique is commonly associated with breech presentation, it is not a technique used to turn babies. Instead, its goal is to improve the function and balance of the mother's pelvis, allowing the baby the greatest opportunity to assume the best possible position on their own.
While Torque Release Technique and the Webster Technique are the primary methods used at Dawn Chiropractic, no two patients are exactly alike. Dr. Melanie is trained in a variety of chiropractic techniques, including Diversified, Activator Methods®, Gonstead, Thompson, and more. Every adjustment is tailored to the individual, allowing the technique and approach to be adapted to each patient's age, comfort level, health goals, and clinical needs.
“There is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the cause.”
